Some San Bernardino County property values up; most declines >>

Despite countywide reductions in property values for three years running, assessed values in some San Bernardino County communities actually increased on the 2011-12 property tax assessment roll, the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder announced.

Overall, the value of assessed property in San Bernardino County declined by 1.45 percent for fiscal year 2011-12, a reduction that cut the assessment roll by $3 billion, Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder Larry Ward said. The roll closed with a total net taxable value of $205 billion, down from $208 billion last year and a plunge from the 2008 peak of almost $243 billion.

Among communities with an increase in assessed value, Perris was the top city with a 1.24 percent gain. Next was Menifee, up 1.17 percent, Moreno Valley, up 0.69 percent and Temecula, up 0.24 percent. Assessed values in other cities declined.
